A parent looking for a tutor is not comparing features. Their child is finding reading, math, or school itself hard, and they are deciding whether to trust a stranger with that. The site that earns the booking feels like a patient teacher and a quiet room, says plainly who teaches, where, and what it costs, and makes the first conversation easy to start.
Then the real work begins. Scheduling, payments, cancellations, reminders, and the note home after every session pile up fast, and most small practices end up running them across a booking app, a payment link, a spreadsheet, and a long text thread. Forzur designs and builds both halves: a public site that earns a family's trust and, where the practice needs it, the booking, parent portal, and back office behind it, custom-coded around how you actually teach.
We built the website and the whole system behind it for Moore Prep, a Pre-K to 5th grade tutoring practice in downtown Wake Forest run by one teacher. We work with tutors and education businesses across the Triangle from our base in Raleigh, NC, and remotely anywhere.

What the website has to do
Describe the practice you actually run
A tutoring site that borrows the look of a private school, with a catalog of programs, campus photos, and a tour scheduler, promises a staff and a building a family will not find when they arrive. Moore Prep's first site did exactly that. We rewrote it around the real business, one teacher, three services, and one quiet room, and small on purpose became the most convincing thing on the page.
Make a free conversation the only way in
Whether a tutor suits a child is a fit question before it is a scheduling question. On the Moore Prep site every family starts with a free 15-minute call booked from the teacher's real availability, with the next open time shown under the button and no card asked for. Booking holds the slot on her calendar, so two families can never claim the same time.
Write the prices and the cancellation rule in one sentence each
Parents of young children cancel, and a rule nobody explained is how a practice loses a family. Moore Prep shows plain per-session prices and bundles, and its cancellation policy is one sentence: cancel 24 hours ahead and the session goes back on the account automatically. The system enforces the same rule, and every session sits on an append-only ledger, so the page, the practice, and the balance never disagree.
Give families a portal instead of a text thread
Once a family is approved, the portal replaces the back-and-forth. Parents sign the agreement, buy sessions by card through Stripe, and request times the teacher confirms, with siblings sharing one bundle. Each child has goals, notes home, and a progress report a parent can share with a classroom teacher by private link, plus a statement at the end of the year for taxes and benefits accounts.
Build the back office for the teacher's phone
A tutor between sessions is in a hallway, not at a desk. Moore Prep's admin opens on Today, with the day's sessions, requests, payments, the waitlist, and messages a tap away. A session assistant turns dictated or typed notes into a draft note home, and nothing reaches a family until the teacher has edited it and sent it herself, so the writing stays hers.
Get found by parents searching nearby
Tutoring searches are local and specific about age, closer to tutoring for my kindergartner near me than to a business name. The page should name the grades you teach, the part of town, parking, and hours in plain text, and mark up the questions parents ask first as structured data. Moore Prep names Pre-K through 5th grade and its downtown Wake Forest room for exactly that reason.

Questions we get asked
Do I need a parent portal, or just a website?
Not every practice needs a portal. If you teach a handful of families and a calendar link and a payment link keep up, a calm, honest public site with easy booking is the right first build. A portal earns its keep once scheduling, payments, and cancellations start eating your evenings, and we will tell you plainly which side of that line you are on.
Can families book and pay online?
Yes. The first step can be a free call booked from your real availability, sessions can be bought by card through Stripe one at a time or in bundles, and the cancellation window you choose can be applied automatically. If you already use a booking or payment tool you are happy with, we can make it the obvious next step instead of replacing it.
How do you handle information about children?
By collecting as little as possible in public. The booking form asks for the parent's details, the child's grade, and what would help most, never records or diagnoses. Anything more personal, such as notes home and progress reports, lives behind the family's login rather than on the public site, and a report only leaves it through a private link the parent can switch off.
Will this work for a tutoring center with several teachers?
Yes, though the build changes shape. Moore Prep is one teacher, so its back office is built around one person's day. A center with several tutors needs each teacher's subjects, grades, and availability on the site, and booking that routes a family to the right person. We scope it around how your center actually runs rather than starting from a template.
We are just starting out. What should the first site include?
Less than you might think: who teaches, what you help with and for which ages, where and when you meet, what a session costs, and one clear way to start a conversation. Describing a small practice honestly reads as confidence, not apology, and booking or a portal can be added once the practice is ready for them.
